Pukehina Beach Coastal Charge To support remedial work on the beach in the event of significant erosion as we work towards creating healthy dunes along the beach. $8.23 inland property charge and $47.45 beachfront properties. Fund as at June 2021 is $323,059 .
Targeted Rates for our Community
We currently have three targeted rates that are collected on our behalf by Western Bay of Plenty District Council (WBOPDC). These rates came about through consultation with the community for specific areas of need. The Pukehina Development Fund and Coastal Charge was set up in the early 2000's and the Community Centre/Hall rate in 2022.
Pukehina Development Fund (PDF) Rate - a decision on the consultation has been made (Oct 2024) - see News page here
With support from WBOPDC we’re inviting community input on how the PDF should be distributed among a range of existing community projects - identified through long-term planning and previous community kōrero. Come along to the Hall 31st May 1-3pm to learn more!
Pukehina Community Centre/HallA $30 targeted rate starting July 2022 increasing to $60 in 2024 to repay a loan taken to fund repairs to the Community Hall. Read more by clicking through to the Community Hall page.
Pukehina Development FundTo subsidise the costs of a connection fee if a sewage scheme was to go in. After community consultation in April 2022 the rate was set at $0. Following further consultation in May 2024 the rate will no longer be collected and monies in the fund will be used to support existing community projects.
